MOE's Teachers' Day dedication portal #tday09

Singapore Celebrates Teachers’ Day

Singapore students far and wide submitted short notes of thanks to their favourite teachers over the last month. The students, most of whom now form the working population of the island city reminisced over how their teachers changed their lives.

Of the 10 teacher friends I randomly polled, none of them had heard about this portal directly from Ministry of Education or the school. Some said that they only heard about it because the school passed them "a letter for parents" to inform them about this dedication portal.

No formal announcement was made by the school or by MOE, to inform the teachers that they should look forward to receiving dedications from students through this website.

What then, could be the objective of this site? I really wonder.

Lucian Teo (Head, Web Management, at Ministry of Education), replied to my Tweet:

@daphnemaia Good point Daphne. We could have done a lot more to publicise the effort.

Shouldn't this have been thought about before the idea was implemented? I guess in the end, all it is really, is a seemingly good idea whose implementation has gone awry.
